Sharia Financial Management Workshop for the Mizanul Ulum Sanrobone Takalar Islamic Boarding School Community

Makassar, Indonesian Muslim University — UMI Islamic Faculty (FAI) lecturers again showed their commitment to community service by holding a Sharia Financial Management Workshop at the Mizanul Ulum Sanrobone Islamic Boarding School, Takalar, Thursday, August 28 2025. This activity was attended by 20 participants from elements of the Islamic boarding school community, including teachers and boarding school administrators.

Dipimpin oleh Dr. H. Andi Darmawangsa, S.Ag., M.Ag., tim PKM FAI UMI menghadirkan materi yang komprehensif. Workshop membahas dasar-dasar keuangan syariah — seperti larangan riba, zakat, infak, dan sedekah — serta teknik pembukuan sederhana, manajemen kas, perencanaan anggaran, dan strategi pengelolaan dana ZIS (Zakat, Infak, Sedekah). Peserta sangat antusias dan aktif terlibat, terutama saat sesi simulasi pencatatan keuangan dan diskusi studi kasus.

Apart from Andi Darmawangsa, the service team also consists of Dr. H.M. Akil, MH, Dr. Surani, S.Ag., M.Ag, Dr. Ardi, S.HI., MH, as well as two UMI students, Salman Alparizi and I. Zantih Syamsuddin, who also accompanied the workshop. The activity closed with a question and answer session and the presentation of a commemorative plaque to the Islamic boarding school as a form of appreciation for the collaboration.

Through this initiative, UMI hopes to strengthen the role of Islamic boarding schools as centers for sharia economic education while empowering Islamic boarding school communities to manage finances more professionally and according to Islamic principles. Furthermore, this program is expected to be the start of a series of ongoing activities to foster sharia financial literacy among students and boarding school administrators.
