FAI UMI Lecturer Provides Enrichment of Arabic Language Skills to Students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Madaniyah Islamic Boarding School Gunung Silanu District. Jeneponto
Lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) Indonesian Muslim University Makassar; Dr. Wahyudin, LC., MA from the Arabic Language Education Study Program (PBA) and Dr. Abbas Ali Mayo, LC., MA, from the Sharia Economic Law (HES) Study Program held training and enrichment of Arabic language skills for Madrasah Tsanawiyah Madaniyah Islamic Boarding School students in the UMI-assisted Village, Gunung Silanu Village, Bangkala District, Jeneponto Regency in October-November 2024. This training activity is part of the Tri Darma of Higher Education through a community service program initiated by the Community Service Institute (LPKM) UMI Makassar.
This training activity takes the theme: Training and Enrichment of Arabic Language Skills ApproachCommunicative Approach,with the location of service activities at the Gunung Silanu Madaniyah Islamic Boarding School, Kec. Bangkala District. Jeneponto, which is around 100 KM from Makassar City, with the target and object of training being Madrasah Tsanawiyah students, attended by around 50 boys and girls who are representatives from class VII to class IX. This activity took place at the Islamic boarding school mosque and went well and was attended enthusiastically by all the training participants.
The implementation of this training activity uses two method approaches, namely the participatory lecture method and the direct language practice method through the hiwar (dialogue) method and language games. In the first session, PKM team member Dr. Abbas Ali Mayo, LC., MA through material on the urgency of the Arabic language by motivating the students to love and be more enthusiastic about learning Arabic by providing several academic and financial benefits when someone has language skills including Arabic, this segment is interspersed with giving quizzes with prizes for students. Meanwhile in the second session, the material was presented by Dr. Wahyudin, LC., MA as the head of the PKM Team conveyed strategies and some good and fun tips and tips for learning Arabic along with several language practice activities for students viamuhadatsahand interspersed with some fun language games.
The aim of this training is intended to provide enrichment of Arabic language learning and skills for students or santri who have received Arabic language learning at the madrasah. At the same time, this training is intended to motivate the female students to further increase their enthusiasm for learning Arabic. "It seems that this activity was very impressive and received a positive response from both students, teachers and Islamic boarding school leaders and this was proven by the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the participants during the activity," said the PKM team leader,Dr. Abbas Ali Mayo, Lc., MA.
This training event was attended by the Head of the Madaniyah Islamic Boarding School, Kab. Jeneponto KH. Ahmad Daud, S. Ag.M.Ag who was accompanied by the Head of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Sutomo, S.Pd. M.Pd and the teachers and staff of the Islamic boarding school. In his speech, the head of the boarding school expressed his appreciation and thanks to the UMI LPKM who regularly provides guidance to Gunung Silanu Village as a UMI supporter and also expressed his gratitude for the presence of the UMI PKM team who were willing to be present at the Islamic boarding school to provide Arabic language learning and hoped that this activity could be continued in the future. And in the closing activity of the training, the PKM team handed over several Arabic books to the madrasa and then continued with a group photo. (revelation).
