
UMI Lecturers Empower Santri Through Village Chicken Cultivation Innovations Based on Local Feed Technology and DigitalMarketing Towards Eco-Green Islamic Boarding Schools
Islamic boarding school is an educational institution that not only educates students to become studentsulama or ustad but also has the potential to become a forum for empowering the people.UMI lecturers took advantage of this opportunity by making Islamic boarding schools partnersIslamic boarding school human resources are a driver of the economy and welfare in the community.
One of the Islamic boarding schools that has started to move specifically to cultivating free-range chickens isAl-Manar Islamic boarding school located in Sanrego, Kahu District, Bone Regency.Even though this Islamic boarding school is relatively new, it is difficult to start showing its identity in the middlecommunity through da'wah and entrepreneurship-based education in the form of chicken cultivationvillage by using local food.
Apart from that, students are also equipped with sales and marketing methods via social mediasuch as FB, IG, WA and others which open up more modern business opportunities. This is very beneficial for improving the welfare of the Islamic boarding school and the surrounding community. Al-Quran education is not enough to build a Koranic generation but must be accompaniedwith other skills such as entrepreneurship, especially the cultivation of free-range chickens. ConsumptionFree-range chickens are currently increasing along with healthy lifestyle patterns in the communityincreased by avoiding food from poultry that has the potential to carry disease due toexcessive feed of chemicals.
UMI servants who are members of the PKM Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education are present to provide motivation and guidance to the students. All costs for carrying out this activity are borne by the Ministry of Education and Technology with a total cost of 43 million. PKM aims to maximize regional potential, especially agricultural waste such as corn cobs, rice bran and others. This can provide economic value to Islamic boarding schools and students.
PKM supports the spirit of independence so that in the future Islamic boarding schools can become independent Islamic boarding schoolseconomically and students can open employment opportunities after graduation. The organizers of this activity were supported by Dr Agus Salim Beddu Malla as team leader, Syahrul Mubarak Abdullah and Ir. Bakhtiar as a member plus two students. PKM implementers hope that the PKM for free-range chicken cultivation will continue to run and participate in increasing skills and supplying the economy of residents living around the Islamic boarding school.
