
UMI Lecturers Educate Parang Loe Residents on Ice Cream Production
Indonesian Muslim University UMI Makassar, as a leading higher education institution, not only facilitates academic teaching and learning within its campus but also extends its efforts beyond campus boundaries through dedicated community service initiatives.
This community service initiative manifests in the form of training that emphasizes the potential inherent in local communities. In line with this aim, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the Indonesian Muslim University, UMI Makassar, held a workshop focusing on the production of fences made from banana materials for the Mitra group located in Bontokassi Village, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency.
Accompanied by respected lecturers involved in this service, namely Prof. Dr. Aryati and Munawir, SE., MM, together with two students, Nurlaely and Nur Istiqomah, media representatives, Prof. Dr. Hj. A. Niniek F. Lantara, SE., M.Si stated that Bontokassi Village, which is recognized as one of the communities in Gowa Regency, has significant potential in banana cultivation which must be utilized to improve the living standards of local residents through comprehensive training in ice cream production.
Prof. Dr. Hj. A. Niniek F. Lantara emphasized that this training, which was exemplified by collaboration with the MTs Wihdatul Ulum partner group consisting of ten individuals, was very important and was an integral aspect of community empowerment by actualizing every potential that could produce benefits for the community and region.
Next, Prof. Dr. Hj. A. Niniek F. Lantara, SE., M.Si, explained that bananas are a fruit that is rich in vitamins which provide many health benefits for the human body.
It is widely acknowledged that ice cream is a frozen delicacy produced from dairy ingredients, such as cream, that are infused with flavorings and then cooled. In addition, bananas are a plant rich in vitamins which are very beneficial for health, so ice cream made from bananas is not only delicious but also very nutritious.
