EDUCATION ON MANUFACTURING EG-PLAS WOOD PANEL AS AN ALTERNATIVE BUILDING MATERIAL IN RW 5, TAMANGAPA DISTRICT, MANGGALA DISTRICT, MAKASSAR CITY

Funded by the Community Service Institute (LPkM) Indonesian Muslim University (UMI),The PkM team of UMI lecturers held Community Service (PkM) with the titleEducation on Making Eg-Plas Wood Panels as an Alternative Building Material at Rw 005, KelurahanTamangapa, Manggala District, Makassar City. This activity takes place in several stages, starting withby providing educational materials to partner communities and then practicing making themcarried out by the UMI PkM team and Partners on Monday, November 5 2025 atRW 005, Tamangapa Village, Manggala District, Makassar City. This activity was also attended byChairperson of RW 005 Mrs. Halimah, S. Sos. Then the product handover is carried out as a result of the activityand cooperation between both parties on Friday 7 November 2025.

This service activity was led by Dr. Ir. Juhana Said, ST., M.T. (Lecturer in the Architecture Study ProgramUMI Faculty of Engineering), and accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ramlawati, S.E., M.M. (Lecturer at the Faculty of Economicsand UMI Business) and 2 students from the Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, UMI.

Dr. Ir. Juhana Said, ST., M.T. as head of the UMI PkM Team, said that there was a lot of plastic wasteand the growth of water hyacinth in the environment both in the rainy and dry seasons is no longerhas become a frightening specter with the innovation and skills possessed by residentspublic. Besides that, the products introduced to partners are the results of researchin the form of alternative panels to replace wooden boards, where wood material is no longer widely recommendedfor use in the world of construction due to environmental sustainability factors. For this reason, the PkM TeamUMI hopes that with the knowledge and skills that have been given toThe community in RW 005, Tamangapa Subdistrict, can be a source of improvementtheir economy so that they can play a role in maintaining environmental sustainability.

In this service activity, there were many participants present, namely 15 community membersalong with the local RW chairman. The participants were very enthusiastic, seen by the many discussionsoccurs during the activity process, and the results of the questionnaire show the scoreis increasing as well as the residents' enormous hopes for increasing their income continuesDr. Ir.
