Implementation of a Self-Service System for Administrative Efficiency in Biji Nangka Village, Sinjai Regency

The Faculty of Computer Science (FIKOM) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) for the first time carried out Community Service activities in Biji Nangka Village, Sinjai Regency, on Tuesday, November 11 2025. This activity is a form of implementation of the Tridharma of higher education, especially service based on the results of scientific research and development, which is directed at supporting the digital transformation of public services at the village level.

The Head of Biji Nangka Village, Mr. Andi Rauf, expressed his high appreciation for the synergy that was built between the village government and FIKOM UMI. "We thank FIKOM UMI for being present and taking the time to share knowledge with all the staff of the Biji Nangka Village Office. Today we are together getting to know and study the self-service system developed by FIKOM UMI lecturers, with the hope that it can be implemented in the village office," he said.

In line with the faculty's vision, FIKOM UMI is committed to taking a strategic role in strengthening human resource capacity and developing information systems in the Eastern Indonesia Region. In Biji Nangka Village, this commitment is realized through the development of an integrated village information system which includes population data collection (resident data, area size, population, family, religion, employment and education) as well as independent services for the community. Through this independent service, residents can submit various administrative requests more quickly and in a structured manner. In the future, this system will be expanded and integrated with data collection on aid recipients, development of smart community information, tourism potential, and halal digital entrepreneurship as an implementation of UMI's vision which focuses on strengthening the halal ecosystem. In the initial stages, assistance was carried out intensively, including through online communication, until village officials were truly able to operate the system independently.

In the discussion and question and answer session, Mr Sudirman B as Head of the Government Section of the Biji Nangka Village Office was one of the participants who actively conveyed his experiences, conveniences and challenges faced in mail administration services. The discussions were dynamic and opened up space to identify field needs as well as explore the potential for developing self-service features in the future.

Head of the service lecturer team, Mr. Dr. Ir. Purnawansyah, M.Kom, who is also Dean of FIKOM UMI, emphasized the importance of sustainable collaboration between universities and village governments. "Our trip to Sinjai was rewarded with a warm welcome and a very interactive discussion atmosphere. We hope that this self-service system can help village staff streamline administration at the Biji Nangka Village Office, as well as being the start of a long-term collaboration between FIKOM UMI and Biji Nangka Village. FIKOM UMI is ready to actively contribute to encouraging the digitalization of public services in this village," he said.

As a follow-up, FIKOM UMI offers ongoing assistance which is expected to not only increase administrative efficiency, but also build a data-driven work culture and transparency of public services at the village level. It is hoped that this collaboration can become a pilot model for digitizing village public services in Sinjai Regency and other regions in Eastern Indonesia, as well as strengthening the role of universities as strategic partners for the government in realizing modern, effective and responsive governance.
