Financial Literacy for the Mekarsari Farming Women's Group in Benteng Selayar Village to Increase Economic Independence

PKM Community Service Activities from the LPKM UMI Makassar Community Service Institute have been carried out at Benteng Selayar targeting the Mekar Sari Farming Women's Group as PKM Partners.

The PKM team from FEB UMI Makassar is chaired by Prof. Dr. Syamsu Nujum, member Prof. Dr. Serlin Serang and Prof. Dr. Aryati conducted outreach on Friday 10 October 2025, raising the topic of financial literacy for groups of women farmers to increase economic independence.

KWT members as small economic actors need literacy to manage finances and improve family welfare so this material is considered necessary for Partner members so that they will have the understanding and ability to manage the economy both for the business they are involved in and for the sustainability of the family economy so that they have simple and adequate financial records.

In the discussion session held, Mitra asked how to increase awareness of the importance of managing finances because income is not large and family needs are large, so this is a common challenge to be disciplined in managing Mitra's finances.

This activity was held in the BPP Bontobaharu Benteng Hall, Selayar Islands Regency and was attended by approximately 20 participants from KWT Mekar Sari, Benteng City. This activity went smoothly and was carried out in a pleasant atmosphere.
