
Compiling a Compendium of Comfortable and Cost-Effective Housing for Indonesian Students in Nagoya, Japan
As a form of commitment to providing real benefits for students abroad, Indonesian Muslim University through the Community Service Institute (LPkM) has succeeded in carrying out international scheme service activities with a focus on preparingCompendium of Comfortable and Cost-Effective Residential Architecture. This activity is aimed at helping Indonesian students and prospective students in Nagoya, Japan, find a place to live that suits their needs and financial capabilities.
This activity will last for 5 months, starting from July to November 2024, with three main stages: collection of literature data and remote surveys, analysis and preparation of a compendium, and ending with publication and submission of a results report. In this activity, the service team headed by Ir. Ahmad Nadhil, ST., M.Sc., collaborated with partners from the Nagoya Indonesian Students Association (PPI). This collaboration ensures that the housing solutions prepared truly suit the needs and conditions of Indonesian students in Nagoya.
Stages and Results of Activities
- Data Collection and Needs AnalysisThis stage includes collecting information regarding housing options in Nagoya which is carried out through long-distance surveys and literature research. Information such as rental costs, facilities, and recommendations for strategic residential locations are tailored to Indonesian students' budgets.
- Compilation of an Architectural CompendiumBased on the results of the analysis, the team succeeded in compiling a practical compendium containing guidance on housing selection, financial management strategies, energy-efficient space design tips, and recommendations for environmentally friendly materials. This compendium makes it easier for students to understand the housing options available in Nagoya.
- Publication and Socialization of ResultsThe results of the activities are delivered in digital form which can be accessed by Indonesian students in Nagoya. Apart from that, outreach was carried out to PPI Nagoya members through a webinar which discussed the compendium and provided a room for questions and answers.
