Training on Modern Mapping Survey Tools for Students of SMK Negeri 5 Barru by LPkM-UMI Service Lecturers

The Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) Community Service Institute (LPkM) through the Mining Engineering Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) held training on the use of mapping survey navigation tools for students at SMK Negeri 5 Barru. This activity was led by Ir. Suriyanto Bakri as Head of Service, with full support from the Head of SMK Negeri 5 Barru, Faisyal Yunus, S.Pd., M.Pd. The main objective of this training is to improve students' technical abilities in utilizing modern mapping technology, which is very much needed in the industrial world.

In his explanation, Ir. Suriyanto Bakri explained that this training provided practical training on how to use navigation tools such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), compass and the Avensa Map application. These tools have high relevance in today's industry, especially in the mining and geology fields. "With this training, we hope that students can master technology that will simplify and speed up the measurement and mapping process, which is really needed in the field," he explained.

The Head of SMK Negeri 5 Barru, Faisyal Yunus, S.Pd., M.Pd, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the implementation of this training. "Collaboration with LPkM UMI is an important step in efforts to improve the competence of our students. We are committed to continuing to improve the quality of vocational education in our schools, so that graduates of SMK Negeri 5 Barru can be better prepared and excel in the world of work," said Faisyal.

This one-day training not only covers theoretical material, but also provides the opportunity for students to directly practice the skills learned in the field. With mapping simulations that are close to real conditions, students are taught how to use modern mapping tools to complete field survey tasks. This is very useful, especially for students majoring in Mining Geological Engineering, where field mapping skills are crucial.

One of the participants, Andika Pratama, expressed how much this experience meant to him. "This training is very useful, because we understand more about how to use the tools commonly used in professional mapping. This will really help us when we go directly into the world of work," said Andika.

With this training, SMK Negeri 5 Barru together with LPkM UMI hope to continue developing students' competencies in facing increasingly rapid technological developments, as well as preparing them to be more ready and competitive in the world of work. This activity is part of the commitment of both parties to continue providing relevant and useful training to support students' future career development.
