TRAINING FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS IN DESIGNING MEANINGFUL LEARNING BASED ON DEEP LEARNING IN THE MERDEKA TEACHER CURRICULUM UPT PSF SDN SUMANNA MAKASSAR

This Community Service Activity (PKM) is a form of implementation of the tridharma of higher education which focuses on increasing the competency of elementary school teachers in facing the dynamics of curriculum change in Indonesia. This activity was carried out at UPT PSF SDN Sumanna Makassar involving educators as training participants. The team implementing this activity consists of Dr. H. Muh. Aidil Sudarmono R, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I. as chairman, Dr. Abdul Wahab, S.Si., M.Sc. as members, as well as Mulyasti Andasari and Syarfina Guslob as accompanying students. This team comes from the Indonesian Muslim University which is committed to supporting improving the quality of basic education through strengthening teacher capacity.

The background to this activity is based on the demands of the Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes meaningful, contextual and student-centered learning. In this curriculum, teachers are required not just to transfer knowledge, but to facilitate students' critical, creative and collaborative thinking processes. Therefore, the deep learning approach is considered very relevant to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. Deep learning in an educational context is not just technology, but also a pedagogical approach that emphasizes deep understanding, active learning, and the connection between concepts and students' real experiences.

The main objective of this PKM activity is to provide training to elementary school teachers in designing meaningful learning based on deep learning, starting from planning, implementation, to learning evaluation. This activity includes preparing teaching modules that suit the characteristics of students and the Pancasila student profile, integrating learning technology, as well as implementing active learning strategies that foster students' critical thinking skills.

The training implementation method is carried out through several stages, namely:

  1. Presentation of material regarding the concept of meaningful learning and the principles of the Independent Curriculum.
  2.  Workshops and simulations on deep learning-based learning design using project and problem-based learning approaches.
  3. Direct assistance in preparing Learning Implementation Plans (RPP) and innovative teaching modules.
  4. Evaluation and reflection, to assess the effectiveness of training and teacher understanding of the material provided.

The results of this activity show an increase in teachers' understanding and skills in designing learning that is more interactive, contextual, and oriented towards developing students' high-level thinking competencies. Teachers are able to produce learning designs that encourage students to actively ask questions, discuss, experiment and construct knowledge independently. Apart from that, this activity also strengthens partnerships between universities and elementary schools in developing an educational ecosystem that is adaptive to change.

With this training, it is hoped that teachers at UPT PSF SDN Sumanna Makassar can become agents of change in implementing the Independent Curriculum, and be able to create an inspiring and meaningful learning environment for students. This PKM activity is also a form of real contribution from the Indonesian Muslim University in supporting improving the quality of basic education in Indonesia.
