Utilization of Cow Urine Waste and Legume Plant Structural Waste to Make High Nitrogen POC in Galesong District, Takalar Regency

Galesong District, Takalar Regency, precisely in Campagaya Village. Recently, lecturers at the Faculty of Agriculture, Indonesian Muslim University, under the coordination of the UMI Community Service Institute, conducted counseling and training on making POC+ on Saturday 16 November 2024. The location of the implementation was in the yard of the house of Mr. Gapoktan Malewaya Campagaya (M. Arsyad Dg Pali) with the theme of using cow urine waste and legume plant stover into high-quality liquid organic fertilizer. high nitrogen.

The implementation of this program was attended by most members of the Campagaya farmer group, the Campagaya Village farming community, Galesong District, Takalar Regency, also attended by the village head, Babinsa, Gapoktan head, and hamlet head.

In this activity, the UMI Faculty of Agriculture lecturer as speaker was Dr. Ir. Edy, MP.., MPd. and Tsalis Kurniawan, SE, MSc. The material presented begins with an explanation of organic waste, its impact and availability, then continues with how to use it for agriculture in anticipation of the high price of inorganic fertilizer and frequent shortages.  The speaker explained various easy methods for dealing with the problem of scarce fertilizer, by utilizing organic waste as fertilizer and helping microorganisms in the decomposition process. This liquid organic fertilizer, which is made from cow urine, legume plant stover, has many advantages because of its high nitrogen content so that the resulting fertilizer is more effective in increasing plant growth and production.

The participants' enthusiasm was visible in the many responses to questions, including Mr. Babinsa, who was very interested in developing it while also helping farmers around his area. The chairman of Gapoktan Malewaya Campagaya also gave a response, saying that we are always looking forward to the agricultural extension program in Campagaya Village as basic knowledge and great experience so that farmers in general know that they don't always have to use chemicals, they have to change their mindset and ideas in developing agriculture with an organic system that is easy to practice and restores good soil and plant fertility.

On this occasion, the Head of Campagaya Village, namely Mr. Amri, fully supported this activity as a medium to increase the knowledge and skills of the Campagaya farming community in developing agricultural businesses and recognizing various strategic methods in agricultural problems in terms of scarce fertilizers and controlling pests and diseases of farmers' crops without using chemicals.
