Empowerment of BUSI (Nutrition Aware Mothers) in Supporting Stunting Control Policies in Bonto Bunga Village, District. Moncongloe District. Maros

Collaboration between Lecturers at the Indonesian Muslim University together with PKK women in Bonto Bunga Village, Moncongloe District, Maros Regency as a concrete manifestation of the contribution to alleviating stunting in Maros Regency. In this activity, education and demonstrations were carried out for PKK mothers regarding the processing of local corn-based food as additional food or snacks to overcome GTM (Shut Up Movement) in children. Corn is a local food commodity and a source of income for the people of Maros Regency. With the potential of local corn food, of course Maros Regency has a great opportunity to continue to contribute not only to food security, but also to overcome the burden of malnutrition, especially stunting, which is one of the health problems in Maros Regency. Apart from that, local processed corn food also has sales value so it can be a source of income for the community to increase their income.

The high level of demonstration activities for making additional food based on local corn is shown by the active participation of the community through discussions and question and answer sessions and they also want to immediately try sweet corn as an alternative food. In the service team interview session, one of the PKK members expressed her gratitude for this activity. "We are very grateful for the material and additional knowledge regarding processed corn products so that we can do it"preventing stunting for today's children and the benefits are certainly extraordinary for the future of the nation," said one member of the PKK. The head of the Ibu Hikmah service team as an FKM UMI academic also said that "corn has many benefits, not only can it be consumed by adults, but this corn is also rich in benefits for children's development and health, for children who show resistance to food when being fed or cover their mouths, mothers can process corn as an alternative food into food that children like," he said.

People need to know how to process sweet corn so that mothers with toddlers can eat it every day. Sweet corn can be a delicious and nutritious choice to meet children's daily nutritional needs if processed properly. Participants in this community service activity certainly really hope that this activity will continue and provide even better innovations to increase their knowledge and skills, especially PKK mothers who have children under five.
