Independent Energy Empowerment: UMI PKM Team Conducts Solar Panel Training at SMKN 6 Bulukumba

LPKM UMI – BULUKUMBA, Chaired by Dr. Ir. H. Muh. Yusan Naim, M.Sc, together with his team member Ir. Sriwijanaka YH, ST, MT and Dr. Ir. Andi Syarifuddin, ST, MT, who is part of the Community Service (PKM) team from the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) has held training activities on solar power generation technology at SMKN 6 Bulukumba, which is located in Tanah Beru Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency. The activity, which was held on Friday (27/09/2024), aims to promote independent and sustainable energy use.

This activity, which was supported by the UMI Community Service Institute (LPkM), was attended by various related parties from SMKN 6 Bulukumba including the Head of UPT, Baharuddin, SPd, MM, teachers, laboratory heads, as well as the administrative and academic teams.

Dr. Yusan said that the community and SMK Negeri 6 Bulukumba often experience difficulties regarding electricity supply, with a large dependence on conventional energy which is not only expensive but also limited. The solution offered through this training is the use of solar energy as an economical and sustainable alternative.

Dr. Yusan also emphasized the importance of education about solar energy at the school, where training was held to increase knowledge and skills related to this technology. Teachers and students are invited to be directly involved in the process of designing, installing and maintaining solar power systems, so that they can later share this knowledge more widely.

Head of UPT SMKN 6 Bulukumba, Baharuddin, expressed his high appreciation to the UMI PKM Team for contributing knowledge about the use of solar energy. Baharuddin hopes that this activity can improve the quality of students' education and skills, so that their graduates can compete in the world of work
