Empowering Pregnant Women Cadres through Nutrition Education and Structured Assistance in Efforts to Prevent Early Stunting in Romangloe Village, Gowa

Lecturers at the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) of the Indonesian Muslim University carried out Community Service (PKM) activities in Romangloe Village, Gowa Regency on Saturday 4 October 2025. This activity was attended by 20 village health cadres as well as representatives from village officials, and the Romangloe Village Midwife, Gowa Regency.

The community service team consists of 2 lecturers and 2 students, namely Dr. Andi Mappanganro, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep from the Nursing Study Program as team leader and Linda Hardianti Saputri, S.ST., M.Kes from the Midwifery Study Program and 2 students Nurfitri Ayu Tri Darna and Nurul Fadila as members of the service activity team. This activity takes the form of Community Empowerment through Nutrition Education and structured assistance in efforts to prevent stunting from an early age in Romangloe village, Gowa. This activity began with a pre-test to determine the initial level of knowledge of pregnant women cadres about nutrition and stunting, then delivered educational material on nutrition and stunting prevention and continued with a post-test.

This activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of health cadres as wellpregnant women in recognizing signs of stunting risk and implementing a balanced nutritional pattern from the startpregnancy period. Education is delivered through interactive counseling, group discussions, andsimulation of monitoring the nutritional status of pregnant women.

In his speech, the Romangloe Village Head, represented by the village secretary, expressed his appreciation for holding this activity and hoped that the mentoring program could be sustainable so as to reduce the stunting rate in his area. The participants, consisting of posyandu cadres, were very enthusiastic about participating in each activity session. On this occasion, Dr. Andi Mappanganro, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep and the team provided scales and height measuring instruments to assist in posyandu activities and it is hoped that cadres can become agents of change in increasing public awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition and preventing stunting from an early age. This program is a real manifestation of synergy between the world of education and society in building a healthy and quality generation.

In this activity, the team leader and members expressed their gratitude to the Indonesian Muslim University Community Service Institute (LPKM) for funding the service activities and partners who had helped so that the activities could be carried out smoothly.
