Empowering the Fish Farming Community in Pangkep Regency through Digital Transformation of Pond Management based on the Feeder Planner Application
Pangkep (LPkM UMI)— Lecturer teamIndonesian Muslim University (UMI)carry outactivityLeading Community Partnership Program (PKM).themed“EmpowermentFarming Community through Application-based Digital Transformation of Pond ManagementFeeder Planner.”
This activity is a concrete manifestation of the contribution of UMI lecturers in supportingefficiencypond managementthrough the application of digital technology in the community fisheries sector.
The program lasts forfour months, sinceAugust to November 2025, withimplementation of field activities in partner ponds until October, temporarymonthNovember is focused on preparing the final report and publishing the results of activities.
This activity was carried out in collaboration withUD Tani Nila Nusantara, located atMattampa, Bungoro District, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi, which becomemain partner for implementing digital fish feed management applications.
The activity implementation team consists of:
Chairman:Ramdaniah, S.Kom., M.T., MTA —Informatics Engineering Study Program, FacultyUMI Computer Science
Member:Ir. Bayu Adrian Ashad, S.T., M.T. —Electrical Engineering Study Program, FacultyUMI Engineering
Student:Rini Rahmayani Badaruddin and Besse Nisa Mukarramah —Study programInformatics Engineering, Faculty of Computer Science UMI.
Team Leader,Ramdaniah, explained that this activity was designed to help farmersin managing ponds in a more structured and efficient manner through a digital recording system.
"So far, feeding management is still done manually and relies onhabit. Via appFeeder Planner, farmers can record, calculate, and"schedule feeding in a more measured and consistent manner," he said.
Initial observation results show that feed management in partner ponds has not been implementeddigitized. All feeding activities are still carried out based on estimates withoutsystematic recording, making it difficult to evaluate fish growth andproper feed requirements.
As a solution, the UMI lecturer team implementedsocialization and training in application useFeeder Plannerfor farmers. This Android based application hasreminder featureschedule, automatic calculation of feed requirements based on fish biomass, as well asdigital recording of feeding history.
In this activity,Ir. Bayu Adrian Ashad, S.T., M.T.play a role intechnical assistanceimplementation of applications in the field, ensuring the system can be used according to conditionspond operations.
During implementation, farmers actively participate in training, starting from introductionapplication concept to usage practices on each device, with support for twoaccompanying student from Informatics Engineering.
The evaluation results show that the implementation of the applicationFeeder Plannercapableincreasefeed management efficiency up to 15%, based on a comparison between the amount of feedused and fish growth before and after application.
Owner of UD Tani Nila Nusantara,Rachmatullah, S.T., expressed his appreciation forthis activity.
"This application really helps us. Now feeding is more regular, andThe amount can be adjusted to suit the fish's needs. No more wasted feed."he said.
Apart from lecturers, this activity also involves studentsapplication interface design, documentation of activities, and training assistance for farmers.
Looking ahead, the team plansreplicating the program to other groups of farmers in the regionPangkepas well asregister the applicationFeeder Planneras Copyright (HaKI).
This activity received support fromCommunity Service Institution (LPkM)Indonesian Muslim University.
Through innovationFeeder Planner, UMI lecturers are committed to continuingencourage implementationdigital technology in the community fisheries sector, in order to make it happenpond managementmore efficient, productive and sustainable.
