
Strengthening the Untia Fishermen's KUB Institution through Digital Financial Literacy and Business Management
Makassar – The Community Service Team (PKM) carried out an activity entitled "Strengthening the Institution of Fishermen's Joint Business Groups (KUB) through Digital Financial Literacy and Business Management in Untia Village, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City." This activity is part of the university's commitment to supporting increased institutional capacity and economic independence of fishing groups through strengthening aspects of financial management and business governance.
The PKM program is chaired by Dr. Hj. Budiandriani, S.E., M.M. with members Prof. Dr. H. Mahfudnurnajamuddin, S.E., M.M. and Dr. Tasrik Hasrat, S.S., M.M. The three lecturers collaborated to provide assistance to members of the Untia Fishermen Joint Business Group (KUB) to be able to manage their business more professionally, adaptively, and based on digital technology. This activity was attended by 10 members of the Untia Joint Business Group (KUB) who participated in training and mentoring throughout the entire series of programs.
The series of activities began with socialization of the PKM program to all fishermen KUB members. At this stage, the service team conveys the objectives, benefits and stages of implementing the activities so that participants gain a complete understanding of the importance of institutional strengthening as a foundation for sustainable business development. The socialization also became a medium for discussion between the implementing team and the 10 training participants to identify various problems faced in daily business management.The next stage is digital financial literacy training. In this activity, 10 KUB Untia members gained an understanding of the importance of orderly financial recording, separating business and household finances, preparing simple financial reports, preparing business budgets, and using various digital applications as a means of recording financial transactions. It is hoped that this material can improve the ability of KUB members to manage cash flow, carry out business evaluations, and make business decisions based on accurate financial information.
Furthermore, the PKM team carried out business management training which focused on strengthening participants' abilities to manage their business more effectively and efficiently. The material provided includes business planning, production management, marketing strategies, customer service, product development, and developing strategies to increase business competitiveness. Through this training, KUB members are encouraged to have better entrepreneurial insight so that they are able to develop their business sustainably amidst the dynamics of economic change and technological developments.
All activities take place interactively using lectures, discussions, case studies and simple practice methods so that participants can immediately understand the application of the material in their business activities. The ten participants who took part in the activity showed high enthusiasm, as seen from their active participation in discussion, practice and question and answer sessions regarding digital financial management and business development strategies.
As the final stage, the PKM team carries out activity evaluations to measure the level of participants' understanding of the material that has been provided as well as obtain input as a basis for improving the service program in the future. The evaluation results show an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of digital financial literacy and business management as an effort to strengthen KUB institutions and improve members' business performance.
PKM Team Leader, Dr. Hj. Budiandriani, S.E., M.M., said that strengthening institutional capacity is an important factor in creating business groups that are independent and competitive.
"Through this activity, we hope that KUB members will not only have technical skills in running a business, but will also be able to manage finances digitally, develop better business strategies, and build strong group institutions so that they can improve the welfare of fishermen," he said.Through the implementation of this program, it is hoped that the Fishermen's Joint Business Group (KUB) in Untia Village will be better prepared to face the challenges of digital economic development, be able to increase business productivity, expand market opportunities, and create more sustainable businesses. This activity is also a concrete manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the field of community service, through the transfer of knowledge and assistance which provides direct benefits to coastal communities. With the involvement of 10 Untia KUB members as the main participants, this program is expected to have a real impact in strengthening group institutions and increasing the capacity of fishermen's businesses in a sustainable manner.
