INCREASING PUBLIC SPEAKING CAPACITY FOR KARANG TARUNA BUKIT KEMUNING PUCAK VILLAGE, MAROS DISTRICT IN SUPPORTING THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN TOURISM AREAS

Karang Taruna Bukit Kemuning Explores Potential in Forming Young Spokespeople with Confidence and Charisma

UMI Makassar lecturers as the PKM Implementation Team increased the public speaking capacity at Karang Taruna Bukit Kemuning, Pucak Village, Maros Regency on October 3 2025, in order to equip the younger generation with effective communication skills, Karang Taruna Bukit Kemuning District successfully held Public Speaking Training with the theme "Establishing Young Spokespeople who are Confident and Charismatic". The event which took place in the Pucak Village Office Hall, Tompo Bulu District on Friday was enthusiastically attended by dozens of young people from Karang Taruna.

Chairman of the Bukit Kemuning Youth Organization, Faturahman], in his speech emphasized that public speaking skills are an important asset for the progress of youth and the region. "This skill is very applicable, starting from leading meetings, presenting activity proposals, to being a good representative for our Karang Taruna at major events, including being a polite and polite Tourist Guest Guide. We want the young people of Bukit Kemuning to not only be active, but also be able to convey their ideas directly and convincingly," he said.

This training is guided by the implementing team in turn. The participants not only received theoretical material regarding vocal technique, stage mastery, and stage fright management, but also immediately put this knowledge into practice through various simulations.

"We focus on dismantling mental blocks that often prevent someone from speaking in public. Through breathing exercises, eye contact, and preparing structured material, we see a significant increase in self-confidence from the participants. They are challenged to immediately practice delivering short speeches, for example: as an MC at the Musrembang event, August 17 Celebration and as a tour guide.

One of the participants, Nurul Aulia Razak, expressed the benefits she felt. "So far, I have often been afraid and nervous when asked to speak in front of many people. After this training, it feels like I have a new 'weapon'. The techniques taught are very practical and can be used straight away, for example when I have to present ideas at a youth organization meeting or even in class," he said.

This activity is an initiative of the Resource Development Division of the Bukit Kemuning Karang Taruna members as PKM partners of the PKM Peaksana Team. It is hoped that, armed with good public speaking skills, young people can contribute more optimally, both to the Karang Taruna organization and to the progress of Bukit Kemuning Village in general. This step is also in line with the Maros Regency Government's vision of empowering youth as agents of development.

With new enthusiasm after the training, Karang Taruna Bukit Kemuning is committed to continuing to produce a cadre of leaders who are not only conceptually intelligent, but also reliable in conveying their ideas to the public.
