Increasing the Skills of Youth Organizations in the Field of Environment and Tourism in Pattappa Village through the Introduction to the Use of Drones
The Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) through the Community Partnership Program (PKM) is trying to increase the capacity of youth organizations in the field of tourism and the environment of Pattappa Village, Pujananting District, Barru Regency, in the use of drones which was implemented on September 12 2024.
This activity involved two lecturers, namely Ir. Firdaus, S.T., M.T. and Ir. Sitti Ratmi Nurhawaisyah, S.T., M.T. from the Mining Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology, and involving two students from the UMI Mining Engineering Study Program.
Present at this activity was the Head of Pujananting District, H. Abdul Rahman, S.Pd. Head of Pattappa Village Mansur A.Ma.Pust, members of Babinsa, Babinkamtibmas, PKK, Karang Taruna, and Village Consultative Body (BPD).
PKM Team Leader, Firdaus explained, Tourism is one of the most competitive industries. If the village government is serious about this industry, it means that it wants to attract more people to visit the tourist attractions in Pattappa village. So the best and most effective way to attract the attention of potential tourists, stimulate them and convince them to come is to visualize tourist locations in video form. Through this activity, the Team introduced the use of drones to youth organizations in the environmental and tourism fields to become the newest and best solution in displaying tourist attractions (such as; garden tours, waterfall tours and geology tours) through video and aerial photos.
Ratmi added that the tourist locations in Pattappa Village are beautiful and complete, but it's a shame they haven't been exposed on social media. The hope is that after this activity the village government, through the environmental and tourism youth organization, can obtain videos of tourist locations in Pattappa Village to attract tourists to visit.
Firdaus said, when using drones, there are SOPs that must be observed so that their use provides maximum results and undesirable things do not happen, such as drone accidents. Therefore, through this training, our team created a module for operating and using drones which was quoted from the module issued by PT Drone Eduthec (UMI's partner in drone training).
Abdul Rahman, S.Pd as Head of Pujananting District appreciated the implementation of the PKM activities. "Hopefully this activity will continue and provide benefits to the community, especially in Pattappa Village," he said.
