PKM in Maros, This is the Strategy of FS UMI Lecturers to Increase Students' Enthusiasm for Learning at SMAN 13 Tompobulu

Lecturers in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Letters (FS) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) conducted a Community Service (PkM) program at SMA Negeri 13 Maros.

The FS Umi lecturers are Nurmiah Muin as chairman and Martin as member. In this PkM, they also involved students and alumni.

At the school located in Pucak Village, Tompobulu District, Maros Regency, UMI FS Lecturers conducted Formative Assessment Implementation Training from July to October 2024.

Nurmiah Muin explained that the main problem faced by students at SMA Negeri 13 Maros was low motivation and student learning outcomes caused by environmental influences, technological developments and monotonous teaching strategies.

One of the influences on the development of science and technology is cell phones, causing students' interest in learning to decrease. For this reason, the Community Partnership Program activities are intended to provide students with Formative Assessment knowledge and skills.

"Through training and mentoring, we are able to carry out Formative Assessments in the learning process to increase motivation, interest and learning outcomes with teaching methods and strategies that suit student characteristics, for example the PAIKEM method," he explained, Monday (16/12/2024).

"Apart from that, by providing skills training in extracurricular activities, creativity can be increased in order to develop students' psychomotor aspects," he continued.

The method used in this training/mentoring is a participatory training method, namely involving as many partners as possible in lectures, discussions and practice in implementing Formative Assessments.

The specific target achieved in the community partnership program activities is an increase in learning motivation, understanding, knowledge so that there is also an increase in the learning outcomes of SMA 13 Maros student partners in implementing Formative Assessments and improving skills or psychomotor aspects in the use of plastic bags into items of artistic value and economic value.
