
Sustainable Waste Management Strategy in Bontokassi Village, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency
Lecturers from the Indonesian Muslim University have carried out community service activities in Bontokassi village, Gowa Regency. In this activity, outreach and education were carried out to deal with plastic waste around the community, especially in Bontokassi village. The lecturers who are members of the community service team carry out the Community Service Program (PkM) with the theme "Sustainable Waste Management Strategy in Bontokassi Village, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency".
"This activity was carried out because there was a lot of waste that was not controlled and managed properly, so that it piled up a lot and caused waste everywhere. So the UMI internal lecturer service team offered innovation and solutions in handling waste." said the head of the Pkm Team, Ir. Andi Muh Akram, S. Kel., M. Ling.
This program was implemented by 2 novice lecturers and 2 new students from the environmental engineering department at the Indonesian Muslim University, namely Ir. Andi Muh Akram, S. Kel., M. Ling & Ir. Ahmad Jihad, ST., MT (Lecturer) and Jaya Sangkar and Adika Aby Muhammad (Student).
At the time the activity took place there were around 15 local residents who were close to the Bontokassi village office. This activity was carried out in a participatory manner which directly involved participants from the beginning to the end of the activity and carried out an evaluation of the activity.
This community service program is fully supported by the Indonesian Muslim University, especially the Internal Beginner Community Service Institute (LPkM). "Through this LPkM program, we make a real contribution to society in accordance with the scientific discipline of the lecturers who provide the service," said the Chair of the UMI LPkM, Prof. Dr. Ir.
