DPPM DIKTI FKM UMI Service Team Conducts Socialization of Personal Protective Equipment to Iron Craftsmen (Panre Tutu) in Maros Regency

Iron craftsmen are a group of workers who are at high risk ofvarious occupational injuries and diseases, such as burns, eye injuries, disordersbreathing, to hearing loss. Efforts to prevent this from happeningdisability or limitation of body function (disability limitation) becomes very importantin this work environment.

One strategy that can be implemented according to Fatma is educationwound care management. as well as proper and consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE such as heat-resistant gloves, protective glasses, masks,earplugs and safety shoes can protect craftsmen from immediate dangerperform jobs such as welding, metal cutting, and forging.

According to Hukmah, the use of PPE is not just protectionphysical, but also a form of long-term investment in maintaining productivityand workers' quality of life. Knowledge and awareness about the importance of PPE is necessaryimproved through training, socialization and effective work supervision. WithThus, the risk of disability can be reduced to a minimum. Synergy between craftsmen,business owners, and other related parties are very necessary to create an environmentsafe and healthy work. These efforts not only protect individual workers,but also has a positive impact on the sustainability of the iron crafts industry as a wholeoverall.
