The UMI PKM team provides assistance in the Halal Product Process for fish processing in Untia Village UKM

Makassar (17/10) The Community Service Team (PKM) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Indonesian Muslim University, consisting of faculty members, students and alumni, implemented the Halal Processed Fish Products initiative for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Untia Village, which is located in Biringkanaya District, Makassar City.


Halal Product Processing (PPH) includes a comprehensive set of activities designed to guarantee the integrity of a product, especially in light of contemporary government mandates that require all foods to achieve halal certification. PPH includes several critical stages: material supply, processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales and presentation. In his presentation, Dr. Ir. Kasmawati, MP emphasized the importance of adhering to halal production processes, which aim to enforce sanitation of production facilities and equipment both before and after use, as well as to design the production environment to prevent contamination from impure or prohibited substances. Ir. Siti Hadijah explained the procedural framework for the Halal Product Guarantee System (SJPH) regarding the use of raw materials, additives, additional components, packaging, lubricants, oils, sanitizers and other media. Conclusively, MSME participants were given training on how to generate an Endeavor Parent Number via the oss.go.id platform, in addition to receiving guidance in developing attractive product packaging that complies with applicable regulations, thereby increasing the market value of the product, as presented by Muh. Following the conclusion of this PKM initiative, the team aspires that MSMEs, especially those located in Untia Village, will thoroughly implement Halal product processes, thereby establishing legitimate business operations and witnessing an increase in the market value of products produced by their partners.
