UMI PKM Team Installs Solar Panels to Support Borisallo Village Administration Services
GOWA – The need for stable electricity is one of the main foundations for supporting economic, social and public service activities, including at the village government level. However, electricity supply is not always stable, especially in rural areas, which is often a major obstacle in providing optimal service. This was conveyed by the Head of the Community Service Team (PKM) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI), Ir. M. Anas Masa, MT, from the Electrical Engineering Study Program, in the implementation of solar panels at the Borisallo Village Office, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency, Friday (25/10/2024).
In the event which was also attended by Head of Development Section Muhammad Ilyas, Head of Government Section Syahril, community leaders, and residents of Borisallo Village, Anas Masa revealed that instability in electricity supply often becomes an obstacle to village administration services, especially during the dry season. "Frequent power outages have a direct impact on the productivity of public administration services and the level of public satisfaction. This condition requires reliable alternative energy solutions, such as solar power," he said.
Borisallo Village, continued Anas, has geographical potential that really supports the application of solar panels. With open topography and abundant sunlight, solar panel installations in this village can work optimally to meet the electricity needs of the village office. "Solar energy as a renewable resource provides a great opportunity to ensure public services continue to run without being disrupted by limited electricity supplies," he added.
Through this project, the UMI PKM team installed solar panels at the Borisallo Village Office as a sustainable solution to ensure the operation of administrative services. This alternative energy not only improves the continuity of public services, but is also a real step in supporting the reduction of carbon emissions and awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly energy.
Head of the Development Section, Muhammad Ilyas, expressed his appreciation to the UMI PKM team for their real contribution. "We are very grateful for the installation of these solar panels. This technology provides great benefits in maintaining the continuity of village administration services, especially when the electricity supply is disrupted," he said.
Apart from that, Ilyas also highlighted the training provided to village officials and the community as part of this program. "This training provides knowledge and skills to the community, as well as instilling awareness about the importance of renewable energy for a better future," he said.
This program is an example of implementing technological innovation that has a direct impact on village communities, while also supporting the sustainable development agenda.
