UMI PKM Team Socializes Safety Riding Education at Student Level at SMP Negeri 19 Makassar

Makassar, 20 November 2024– SMP Negeri 19 Makassar is one of the partners of the team's activitiesCommunity Service (PKM)beginner scheme done with a theme"Safety Riding Education at the Student Level in Forming an Intelligent Generation with Orderly Traffic". This event was successful, involving students as the main participants and various competent resource persons.

The Principal of SMP Negeri 19 Makassar, Muhammad Kasim, welcomed this activity. "Safety riding education is very important for students. This activity is a real step in supporting the formation of a generation that is intelligent, orderly and cares about traffic safety," said Muhammad Kasim in his speech.

This activity was led by the Chair of PKM, Ir. Hamdan Kadir, ST., MT., who presented the main material regarding safety riding education. He explained various important aspects such as understanding traffic signs and the types of violations that students often commit on the road. "Awareness of traffic rules must be instilled from an early age in order to create a culture of orderly traffic in society," stressed Hamdan.

In addition, material regardingfirst aiddelivered by Mrs. Nurul Husnah, S.ST., M.Keb. He provides practical knowledge about the initial steps to take in the event of an accident, including how to treat minor injuries before medical help arrives.

The students were very enthusiastic about participating in this activity. "I understand more about the importance of obeying traffic signs and how to act if I see an accident on the road," said one of the participants, Kayla Putri Salsabila, a class IX A student.

In this activity, a pocket book was also given regarding safety riding education so that the students of SMP Negeri 19 Makassar received additional material from what had been explained and to add to the excitement, a quiz was given to the students at SMP Negeri 19 Makassar with prizes in the form of safety equipment when riding such as helmets which made this Community Service activity even more lively.

Through this PKM activity, SMP Negeri 19 Makassar together with academics are trying to create awareness and form a younger generation who is more caring and disciplined in traffic. This safety riding education not only provides knowledge, but also inspires students to become agents of change in creating a culture of orderly traffic in their environment.
