Lecturer at the Faculty of Community Service Economics at the Mihzanul Ulum Islamic Boarding School
The Indonesian Muslim University, known as UMI Makassar, functions not only as a leading educational institution but also as a significant center of service, thereby taking an important role in the intellectual and spiritual enlightenment of the nation's population. In pursuing its lofty ideals, the university seeks to facilitate the educational process through formal learning on its campus as well as through extensive community engagement initiatives, which are fundamental components of the tri-dharma of higher education, especially emphasizing the aspect of community service.
In connection with the community service program organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UMI Makassar, the team has strategically chosen the Mihzanul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, located in Sanrobone Village, Sanrobone District, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, as the focal point of their outreach efforts.
Under the guidance of Dr. H. Muhammad Syafii A. Basalamah, who holds the honorable position as chairman of this initiative, Dr. Arifin, SE MP, articulated the reasons behind the selection of this particular Islamic boarding school — highlighting the importance of equipping Santri, who are the future torchbearers of the nation's leadership, with additional knowledge and skills that will empower them to contribute effectively to their communities upon graduation.
In his capacity as a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business at UMI Makassar and as a member of the Master of Economics Study Program at the UMI Postgraduate Program, Dr. Arifin, SE MP, further emphasized the need for creativity training and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students, which serves as an important preparatory step in enabling them to recognize and exploit business opportunities and future ventures that may arise.
At the same time, the Head of the Mihzanul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, Ustadz Baso Udin Daeng Lau, kindly received and warmly welcomed the team from the UMI Makassar Faculty of Economics and Business, who had visited to impart valuable knowledge that students could utilize as they transition to postgraduate life and enter the professional world.
Founded in 1993, the Mihzanul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi was designed to meet the educational needs of Santri at the Tsanawiyah and Aliyah levels, starting with an initial group of 73 Santri and Santriawati, supported by a dedicated team of 23 Ustadz and Ustazah who were committed to encouraging their spiritual and academic growth.
