INNOVATION OF VALORIZATION OF CEMPEDAK WASTE INTO SEED FLOUR AND FROZEN CEMPEDAK EMPOWERING TKI WIVES IN SELANGOR MALAYSIA THROUGH TECHNOLOGY TRANSPLANTATION

Selangor, Malaysia โ€” Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) has once again demonstrated its commitment toincreasing community economic capacity and independence through the Community Partnership Program(PKM) which was implemented in Selangor. This program carries the theme "Application of Processing TechnologyCempedak and Digital Marketing Development for Home Economic Empowerment.โ€

This activity was led by Dr. Hastuti Mulang with other implementing teams. PKM lasts as long asthree months and involves local community groups who are involved in activities every dayhome food processing. Through an appropriate technology approach, participants are introduced toModern methods of processing cempedak into value-added products that are more durable andworth selling.

Training begins with program socialization and identification of partner needs, followed bytechnical guidance regarding cempedak drying, fruit freezing, hygiene standards and practicesdirectly use processing tools that have been modified to be easy to operatepublic.

Apart from food processing, participants are also provided with knowledge about digital marketing, includingcreating business accounts, product photography techniques, writing promotional captions, and introduction strategiesproducts to markets outside the region. Participants are trained to utilize platforms such as WhatsApp Business,Facebook Page and Instagram to expand the marketing reach of their processed food products.

Dr. Hastuti said that this activity was designed not only to provide technical training,but also to open people's mindset about new economic opportunities based on local potential.

โ€œCempedak is a very abundant commodity, but so far it has not been managed optimally.Through more modern processing and digital marketing, people can increase sales valuewhile expanding the market," he said.

During the mentoring process, participants showed significant development. Community groupswhich previously marketed products on a limited basis are now starting to produce more neatly,measurable, and based on cleanliness standards. Some participants have started to create simple brands andmarket products consistently through digital platforms.

This PKM activity also encourages the formation of more solid community institutions. Distributiontasks in production, administration, and marketing began to get organized, allowing the group tomove more professionally. Apart from that, this program also leads to the preparation of planslong-term business development to strengthen the sustainability of post-PKM activities.

At the end of the program, the UMI team together with partner communities carried out an evaluation of the training results, includingmeasuring increased knowledge through pre-test and post-test. The evaluation results showthere was a surge in participants' understanding, both in the technical aspects of food processing and marketingdigital.

Not only does it stop at training and mentoring, the PKM team also prepares scientific publications,documentation of activities, as well as the design of a PKM replication model so that this empowerment practice can be achievedapplied in other areas that have similar commodity potential.

This PKM activity emphasizes UMI's role in strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of EducationHigh, especially in technology and innovation-based community service. Expectedly, programThis is the first step for the community in Selangor to develop into a successful business groupindependent, productive and competitive.
