
LPMD UMI Trains KF Tutors
UMI Makassar – In an effort to increase the insight and knowledge of the functional literacy (KF) tutors as well as to equalize the perceptions and views as well as the methods that will be applied in the learning process of the KF residents in UMI's partner villages and surrounding areas, the UMI Community Service and Da'wah Institute (LPMD) in collaboration with the South Sulawesi Education Service carried out an orientation for basic level functional literacy tutors in 2016 in the UMI LPMD hall, UMI Tower, 3rd floor, which was opened by the UMI Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Hj. Masrurah Mokhtar, MA (9/9).
Masrurah in her speech said that one of the strategies in order to overcome illiteracy is with a life skills program with Functional Literacy learning. This program is a strategy to reduce illiteracy rates with non-formal education services which aims to teach illiterate people to have reading, writing and counting skills and functional abilities to improve the quality and standard of living.
"Apart from that, so that people can be literate in Latin script and Arabic numbers and improve their functional abilities so that they are literate in Indonesian and basic knowledge so that their quality and standard of living will be better," he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of LPMD UMI, Prof.Dr. H.Salim Basalamah, who was accompanied by the secretary of LPMD UMI, Drs. H.Rauf Assgaf, M.Pd said that in 2016, the KF program will be implemented in collaboration with the South Sulawesi National Education Department in 25 target villages in South Sulawesi with a total of 250 students studying, with each study group consisting of 10 people. There were 25 orientation participants consisting of SPD and TPD who served in UMI-assisted villages.
This activity will take place for three days, 9-11 September 2016, featuring the resource person from the Head of PNFI, Diknasbud, South Sulawesi Province (South Sulawesi National Education Policy in implementing KF in South Sulawesi), Prof. Dr. Hj.
