
UMI-AN ORIENTATION FOR UMI STUDENTS FOR THE 2019/2020 ACADEMIC YEAR
The Indonesian Muslim University through the UMI Community Service Institute (LPkM) held the 2019/2020 UMI New Student Admissions activity on Friday 16 August 2019 at the UMI Tower. This activity was filled with material on UMI's Commitment by Prof. Dr. H. Basri Modding, SE., M.Si (UMI Chancellor), Implementation of UMI's Vision and Mission by Dr. Ir. H. Hanafi Ashad, MT (Deputy Chancellor I of UMI), Motivation of UMI Assisted Students by Prof. Dr. H. Achmad Gani, SE., M.Si (Chair of LPkM UMI), as well as a technical explanation of the rules for new students assisted by UMI by Drs. H. Abd. Rauf Assagaf, M.Pd (Secretary of LPkM UMI).
This Assisted Student Program is UMI's zakat given in the form of scholarships (free tuition fees and BPP during college). As for The target is prospective UMI students who have academic potential however do not have economic capabilities, come from UMI's partner villages, Al-Quran memorizer, part of the UMI extended family (class II employees,cleaning service, and campus security guards), the community around the campus is lacking capable.ย
The number of new students assisted in 2019/2020 is 157 people and is spread across several faculties, including Fak. Economics and Business, Faculty. Law, Fak. Engineering, Fak. Literature, Fak. Islamic Religion, Fak. Industrial Technology, Faculty. Computer Science, Faculty. Fisheries & Marine Sciences, Faculty. Agriculture, and Fak. Medical.


UMI's new students will be provided with several trainings, such as service methods, protocol and journalism, mastery of technology, as well as a program to improve memorization of the Al-Quran. So it is hoped that UMI's new students will not only excel in the academic aspect, but can also be an example for around 5,900 new UMI students for the 2019/2020 Academic Year and have noble character in accordance with UMI's vision of producing graduates who are knowledgeable, have scientific deeds, and have good morals.
