PkM IMPLEMENTATION OF AI-BASED VOCABVENTURE LEARNING MEDIA AND LESSON STUDY FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS' ENGLISH VOCABULARY MASTERY

Team of lecturers from the Faculty of Letters, Communication Sciences and Education, Muslim UniversityIndonesia (UMI) has implemented Community Service (PkM) Scheme activitiesFeatured with the theme "Application of Artificial-Based Vocabventure Learning MediaIntelligence (AI) and Lesson Study for School Students' English Vocabulary MasteryBase."

This activity was carried out at UPT SPF SDPresidential Instruction Tamalanrea V, DistrictTamalanrea, Makassar City, during
period August to November 2025.

This service program is chairedby Rizkariani Sulaiman, S.Pd., M.Pd.,with team member Dr. Dra. Andi Hudriati,M.Hum., and supported by studentsEnglish Education Study Program.

This activity is part of the implementation of TriDharma of Higher Education, especially in the field of innovation-based community serviceand lecturer research results.

This PkM activity aims to improve school students' mastery of English vocabularybasics through the use of digital learning media based on artificial intelligence (AI),namely Vocabventure.

the mediainteractively designed foradapt to learning stylesvisual, auditory, and kinesthetic students,and is equipped with an adaptive quiz feature,Daily challenges, and feedbackautomatically pushingactive involvement of students. Besidesuse of Vocabventure, paraPartner teachers also receive assistance in using various learning platformsdigital, including Wordwall, Educaplay, Quizizz, and MagicSchool AI as effortsdeepen the pedagogical skills and digital literacy of educators at the primary school level.

This service activity applies a lesson study approach with a Plan–Do– cycle.See as a reflective and collaborative framework for teachers. Through this approach, teachers and lecturerswork together in designing, implementing, and reflecting on vocabulary learningTechnology-based English. The results of this joint reflection become the basis for developmenta learning model that is more adaptive, communicative, and in accordance with the needs of school studentsbase. The lesson study approach has proven to be effective in strengthening teacher professionalism andbuilding a culture of collaboration between teachers, in line with the results of existing researchcarried out by a team of service lecturers within the Faculty of Letters, Communication Sciences, andUMI Education.

Based on the results of the analysis of the pre-test and posttest scores,This activity shows an increase in averagestudents' mastery of English vocabulary was +7.4points or 13.8%, with 83.7% of students indicatingincreasing positive learning outcomes.

The highest increase was recorded in class IV students, withthe average increase was 13.7 points, indicating effectiveness
use of game-based learning media andinteractive visuals. Apart from having a positive impact onstudents, this activity also increases teacher competencein digital literacy and reflective pedagogy. Partner teachersucceeded in developing three interactive learning mediato support English teaching and learning activitiesin classes IV, V, and VI. Partner schools now have packagesthematic digital learning media that is ready to be usedback and committed to integrating AI-based media in learningat least twice per semester.

This activity strengthens the partnership between the Indonesian Muslim University and partner schools, namelyPreviously this had been established through the Teaching Campus program and other collaborative activities.As a follow-up, the service team plans to implement a follow-up program in 2026,with a focus on training in creating generative and AI-based learning mediadevelopment of Lesson Study for Learning Community (LSLC) as a learning modelsustainable between teachers across subjects. This activity is also a form of realityUMI's contribution in supporting the achievement of Main Performance Indicators (IKU) for Higher Education,especially in the aspect of involving lecturers and students in community service activitieswhich has a direct impact on improving the quality of education at the elementary school level.
