The UMI LPkM Faculty of Pharmacy Lecturer Team made Healthy Cookies "KEPO" (Moring Porang) as a Body Immunity Booster

A team of community service educators from the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) Community Service Institute (LPKM), consisting of lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy, held a workshop for housewives and PKK cadres in Borisallo Village, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency. The focus of this activity is to provide training to participants on how to make healthy cookies that can increase body endurance, especially by adding porang flour and moringa leaf flour. This community service activity is a concrete manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which emphasizes the obligation of lecturers to be involved in these activities in addition to their commitment to research and teaching.

Head of the Community Service Team, Hamsinah, accompanied by teammates Dewi Yuliana and A. Muflihunna, was present to provide explanations and training to participants in the Borisallo Village Office Hall on Saturday, October 5 2024.

"Borisallo village is a producer of porang plants. Moringa plants also grow a lot in this village which are usually only processed into vegetables. So, we train the mothers so that these two commodities which contain large amounts of vitamins and antioxidants can be managed well," said Hamsinah.

Apart from increasing the body's immunity through the iron, vitamins and antioxidants contained in porang and moringa, these ingredients can also contribute to increasing family income. Cakes made from porang flour and moringa flour are products that are suitable for sale.

"Apart from being healthy, these cookies are of course delicious. Kids will definitely like them too," he said.

Hamsinah hopes that the activities carried out by LPKM UMI can provide benefits to the residents of Borisallo Village. Please note that this activity is fully funded by LPKM UMI.
