
UMI Holds Socialization of Digital Transaction Law on Social Media to Gunung Silanu Village Residents
Jeneponto โ Community Service Team (PkM) from the Faculty of LawIndonesian Muslim University (UMI) carries out legal outreach activitiessocial media-based electronic commerce for the people of Gunung Silanu Village,Jeneponto Regency. This activity will take place on Thursday, November 13 2025,located at the Mount Silanu Village Hall Office.
This service program is part of UMI's commitment to fostering andempowering partner villages through increasing legal literacy and digital awarenesspublic. Activities are carried out through collaboration between a team of Law Faculty lecturersUMI and the Gunung Silanu Village Government.
The activity, which started at 10.30 WITA to 12.00 WITA, was attended byaround 30 participants, consisting of micro business actors, farmer groups, village officials, coral reefscadets, and housewives who actively use social media for activitieseconomics and buying and selling transactions.
The service team is chaired by Dr. Asriati, SH., MH., Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, UMI, withmember Rizki Ramadani, SH., MH. who acts as the main resource person. InIn his presentation, Rizki Ramadani delivered socialization material related to legal aspectselectronic commerce, digital consumer protection, electronic contracts, forms offorms of online fraud that often occur, as well as safe practices for transactions throughsocial media (social commerce).
He emphasized that there are still many people who do not know the evidencedigital such as WhatsApp messages, screenshots, proof of transfer, and online catalogs havelegal force as evidence, so it is important for society todocument each transaction completely. Participants were also introduced tothe obligation of business actors to provide information that is honest and not misleadingto consumers.
Team leader, Dr. Asriati, in her speech said that this activity had a purposeequip village residents with a legal understanding that is practical and easy to applyin everyday life.
"Village people are increasingly actively using social media for selling and sellingshop. Therefore, they need to understand their legal rights and obligations so that they do notbecome victims of fraud and can make transactions safely," said Dr. Asriati.
Participants were also invited to discuss directly a number of online fraud casesThis has happened in Jeneponto and Gowa. This discussion received a very enthusiastic response fromparticipants, who admitted that they often faced the risk of fraud when making transactionsvia social media.
The Head of Gunung Silanu Village also appreciated this activity and hoped for the programThe same can be done on an ongoing basis.
โThis kind of education is really needed by our community, especially the perpetrators"MSEs sell a lot via Facebook and WhatsApp," he said.
The activity closed with a question and answer session and the presentation of souvenirs and modulesdigital law to participants as further reading material. Service team tooestablishing a functional Gunung Silanu Village Digital Legal Communication Forumas a forum for consultation and information related to digital transactions.
This program is one of UMI's strategic steps in helping village communitiesfacing the challenges of the digital era, while strengthening the culture of legal awareness withinsocial media based trading activities.
