WORKSHOP FOR CREATING TECHNOLOGY-BASED RELIGIOUS MODERATION EDUCATIONAL CONTENT FOR STUDENTS AT MA WIHDATUL ULUM GOWA
Gowa, 11 October 2025 โ A team of lecturers from the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) Makassar carried out Community Service (PkM) activities at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Wihdatul Ulum, Bontokassi Village, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency.
This activity carried the theme "Workshop on Creating Educational Content Strengthening Understanding of Religious Moderation", which was attended by 35 students and 5 accompanying teachers from the madrasah.
Head of the service team, Dr. H. Ilyas Tahir, Lc., M.Ag, explained that this activity aims to strengthen understanding of religious moderation among students through a creative approach based on digital technology.
"The younger generation currently lives in the digital era. So strengthening the value of religious moderation needs to be conveyed through media that are close to them, namely digital content and social media," said Dr. Ilyas in his speech.
This activity also presented team member lecturers, namely Dr. H. Ishaq Shamad, S.Ag., M.A and Andi Fadilah, S.Pd.I., M.A, who guided participants in a practical session on creating educational content on religious moderation. Participants are invited to design ideas, write short scripts, and produce short videos on the themes of tolerance, harmony and love for the country.
According to Dr. Ishaq Shamad, this activity not only trains technological skills, but also builds awareness of moderate national and religious values.
"Through digital work, students can become agents of peace who spread the values โโof tolerance and diversity positively in cyberspace," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of MA Wihdatul Ulum Parangloe expressed his high appreciation to the UMI lecturer team for this activity.
"We are grateful for UMI's attention in providing direct guidance to our students. This activity is very useful and inspiring," he said.
At the end of the activity, the participants presented their short video work and received direct feedback from the lecturers. The activity took place with enthusiasm and full of collaborative spirit between lecturers, teachers and students.
This community service activity is part of the Indonesian Muslim University's commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the field of community service, by emphasizing strengthening religious moderation based on digital literacy among the younger generation.
