SMART PEER EDUCATION MODEL AS AN INNOVATIVE, TECHNOLOGY-BASED SOLUTION FOR EARLY DETECTION OF MAMMAE FIBROADENOMA IN ADOLESCENT GIRLS IN TAMALLAYANG VILLAGE, GOWA

Lecturers at the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) of the Indonesian Muslim University carried out Community Service (PkM) activities at SMA Negeri 3 Gowa, Tamallayang Village, Gowa Regency on Thursday 9 October 2025. This activity was attended by 35 young female students and received a welcome from the Principal, Deputy Principal and teachers.

The PkM implementation team consists of two lecturers and two students, namely Andi Tenri Abeng, SKM., M.Kes. from the Midwifery Study Program as team leader, Sunarti, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. from the Nursing Study Program as well as two accompanying students. This activity has the theme "Smart Peer Education Model as an Innovative Technology-Based Solution for Early Detection of Mammary Fibroadenoma in Young Women."

The implementation of the activity begins with a pre-test to determine the level of knowledgeparticipants regarding Fibroadenoma Mammary (FAM) and breast self-examination(BE AWARE). After that, participants received educational material, a BSE examination simulationas well as a demonstration of the use of QR Code-based digital media containing educational videos.Through the Smart Peer Education approach, female students are invited to become peer educatorsplay an active role in disseminating information regarding early detection of FAM in the school environment.

Head of the implementation team, Andi Tenri Abeng, SKM., M.Kes. convey that activityThis aims to increase awareness of young women in maintaining breast healthsince early stage. According to him, peer education is an effective method because it is doneby teenagers and for teenagers. With the support of technology and digital media for health messagescan be conveyed in a more interesting and easy to understand manner.

Apart from educational activities, the team also handed over several educational support assets tothe school includes digital scales, a pocket book "Smart Girls, Healthy Breasts" and QRBSE educational video code. It is hoped that these assets can be utilized by schools andsupervising teachers to support the sustainability of adolescent health programs in the environmentschool.

The school gave positive appreciation, assessing that this activity was not onlybroaden students' insight into reproductive health, but also be a real stepin raising awareness for early detection of breast disease.

At the end of the activity, the team leader expressed his thanks to the InstituteCommunity Service (LPkM) Indonesian Muslim University for funding supportas well as to SMA Negeri 3 Gowa as a partner who has provided cooperation so thatactivities can be carried out well and smoothly.
