Buki Village Population Information System: Village Administration Digitalization Solution
The community service program implemented by the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) has succeeded in bringing information technology-based innovation to Buki Village, Selayar Islands. The service team headed by Dr. Harlinda, S.Kom., M.Kom., MTA, focuses on implementing a website-based population information system as a solution to the manual administration problems that have been implemented so far. This program not only makes it easier to record population data, but also increases the efficiency of community services.
Activities began with outreach to village officials, including village heads and website operators. This socialization aims to provide an initial understanding of the benefits of information technology-based systems. Furthermore, the service team carried out technical training which included managing population data, making reports, and using the system independently. A system management guidebook has also been prepared to support program sustainability.
The success of this program is marked by the implementation of a cloud-based system that allows data storage in a secure and structured manner. In addition, village officials reported an increase in their capacity to use information technology. With this system, administrative services to the public will be faster, more accurate and transparent. Post-program evaluation shows that the majority of operators feel more confident managing village information systems.
Full support from the village government and active community participation are key factors in the success of this program. However, challenges such as limited internet infrastructure remain a concern for further development. For this reason, the service team recommends improving the internet network and further training for village operators so that this program continues to run optimally.
With the results achieved, it is hoped that this program can become a model for other villages in the Selayar Islands in adopting information technology for village administration. In the future, UMI plans to expand this program with a similar approach to other regions, making villages in Indonesia more modern and organized.
