This activity was carried out in three meetings with the aim of increasing youth awareness about the function of mosques as activity centers. Mosques are not only places of ritual worship, but can also be used as centers for education and the spread of Islamic teachings. Apart from that, it can also be used as a place to solve various problems of the people. Even mosques can be used as centers of community empowerment. That is what is expected from this activity. This activity was attended by 32 teenagers.
This service team consists of three lecturers and involves two students, Andi Hasriani S.Ag., M. Ag as chairman, is a lecturer, Department of Communication and Islamic Broadcasting, Syamsuriah S. Ag., M.Ag, and Dra Hj Siti Samsudduha M.Ag. The lecturer team conveyed the importance of activating mosque youth so that they can function optimally.
According to Andi Hasriani, efforts to revitalize the function of mosques through empowering teenagers are very important because teenagers are national assets who must be ready to compete in an increasingly modern world. Revitalizing the function of mosques for teenagers is an important effort to restore mosques as centers of activities that are not only religious, but also social, educational and cultural. In this case, mosques can be attractive spaces and support adolescent development. Mosques can hold activities such as relevant studies for teenagers, skills classes (for example graphic design, writing, or multimedia), and open discussions about issues that are currently developing among them. With interesting topics, teenagers can be interested in learning and deepening Islamic values. Dra Hj Samsudduha explained the importance of involving teenagers in all activities so that they grow a sense of love for Islamic values and have a responsibility to participate in the construction of mosques. Syamsuriah S.Ag., M.Ag invited mosque teenagers to make mosques a center for youth activities.
The method used in this activity is to deliver material by showing videos related to teenage play, and delivering the material via power point, followed by questions and answers. Apart from that, the material that has been presented is evaluated through a cult competition. The cult competition was attended by 8 participants, and all of them received prizes as an expression of gratitude for their efforts to give their best in front of the jury and their friends. Hopefully the mosque teenagers in Lonjoboko Village, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency can be an example for other teenagers.
