Optimizing the Sipatu Program (Integrated Child Growth Screening) in Early Detection of Growth Problems for Students at SDN 21 Sanggalea, Maros Regency
This activity was chaired by Dr. Arman, SKM., M.Kes, together with team members Halida Thamrin, S.ST., M.Keb, and students Muhammad Rifqi Rozan and Nur Wahidah M. Rum. The team's presence was warmly welcomed by Principal Ariefin Arief, S.Pd., Gr, who in his speech emphasized the importance of higher education involvement in increasing health awareness in elementary schools.ย
The series of activities began with a pre-test which was attended by 20 students to measure their initial level of knowledge about stunting. After that, the chief executive provided education about stunting, including the causes, long-term impacts, and steps to prevent it. Students seemed enthusiastic about participating in the activities, especially during the discussion and question and answer sessions, before finally being carried out a post-test to determine their increase in understanding.
Apart from counseling, the team also carries out growth screening by measuring students' weight and height. This activity aims to detect early potential growth problems that could lead to stunting or other nutritional disorders. The measurement process involves students, thus providing direct learning opportunities while improving their skills in field practice.
This service activity is not only beneficial for students, but also becomes a means of collaboration between schools and universities. Through the SIPATU program, FKM UMI is committed to supporting government efforts to prevent stunting and improve the health quality of school-aged children. The hope is that this activity can become a sustainable agenda involving various stakeholders to create a healthy and productive generation in the future.
