COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT THROUGH TRAINING IN MAKING BANANA HEART SHREDDS AS A BUSINESS ALTERNATIVE IN PUCAK VILLAGE, TOMPOBULU DISTRICT, MAROS DISTRICT
Maros, 3 October 2025 – Innovation is back in Pucak Village, Tompobulu District, Maros Regency. Through the activity "Community Empowerment through Training in Making Banana Heart Floss as a Business Alternative", village residents, especially the UKM group in Pucak Hamlet, seemed enthusiastic about participating in the training held by a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Indonesian Muslim University through the Community Service Institute (LPkM).
This activity, which was held on October 3 2025, was officially opened by the Head of Pucak Village, Mr. Abdul Razak, who in his speech expressed his appreciation for the initiative. He hopes that this training can open up new business opportunities for village communities, especially mothers who are active in UKM activities.
The activity implementing team consists of Prof. Dr. Ramlawati, SE., MM (Chair), Dr. Juliyanty Sidik Tjan, SE., M.SA., Ak., CA (Member) and Student an. Anisah and Aswirah.
In this training, participants were introduced to how to process banana blossoms into shredded products which have a savory taste and texture similar to beef floss. "We didn't think banana blossoms could be processed into shredded meat. So far"We only cook it as a vegetable," said Mrs. Sanasi, one of the participantswith a face full of enthusiasm.
The atmosphere became livelier when participants were invited to practice directly making heart flossbanana. The fragrant aroma and crunchy shredded texture impressed many participants."It tastes delicious and delicious, suitable as a side dish," said another participantwhile smiling with satisfaction.
Not only were they taught how to process ingredients, the participants also received materialabout product packaging and labeling techniques so that they have sales appealhigher. The implementation team even provides examples of attractive packaging designsand practical for marketing.
Head of the service team, Prof. Dr. Ramlawati, SE., MM, explained that this training is expected to be the first step for the community to utilize local potential which has so far had little economic value.
"We hope that people can start processing banana blossoms into high-value shredded meat, so that it can become an alternative business in Pucak Village," he said.
With high enthusiasm from residents and full support from the village government, this activity is clear proof that simple innovations can open up big opportunities for the economic independence of rural communities.
