Empowering Parents Regarding Adolescent Mental Care as an Effort to Prevent and Overcome Bullying in Tonasa Village

Team leader Rahmawati Ramli, S.Kep.Ns.M.Kes.M.Kep along with members Suhermi, S.Kep.Ns., M.Kes and Sartika, SKM as service lecturers along with students Andi Ramadhani Aolya and Hendri carried out PKM which aims to increase parents' understanding as an effort to prevent and overcome bullying in Tonasa Village, Takalar Regency.

Cases of bullying that often occur in schools and communities educate. A total of 25 participants, consisting of teenage mothers, attended community service activities with the theme "Empowering Parents Regarding Youth Mental Care as an Effort to Prevent and Overcome Bullying" which was held on Saturday, October 5 2024, in Tonasa Village.

The participants were given education about bullying, recognizing the mental and emotional needs of teenagers, namely the mental and emotional needs of teenagers, communicating effectively and openly with teenagers through roleplay methods, as well as preventive steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of bullying.

In his speech, Tonasa Village Secretary Mr. Junaedi, SH said that empowering parents was an important first step in creating a safe and supportive environment for adolescent development. "With a good understanding of bullying, it is hoped that mothers can play an active role in preventing and dealing with bullying around them," he said.

This activity also involved resource persons from FKM UMI nursing lecturers in the field of psychiatric nursing who provided comprehensive material and interactive discussions. The mothers who attended seemed enthusiastic about taking part in the entire series of events, with the hope of being able to apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives to maintain the welfare of their children. It is hoped that this community service program can be the first step in realizing Tonasa Village which cares more about the mental health of teenagers and is free from bullying.

The PKM team would like to express its thanks to the leadership of the Indonesian Muslim University, the Chair of LPkM and his staff, the leadership of the FKM Faculty and the Head of Tonasa Village and his staff who have facilitated the implementation of this PKM activity.
