PKM EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY TO IMPLEMENT CLEAN BEHAVIOR BY UTILIZING FRUIT WASTE AS A DISINFECTANT IN PARANGBANOA VILLAGE, GOWA DISTRICT

The waste issue is an urgent global problem, marked by a surge in waste production due to population growth and consumerism, as well as negative impacts on the environment (soil, water and air pollution), human health (disease, organ disorders), and the threat of disasters (floods, exploding landfills). Increasing population and consumer lifestyles produce more waste in various forms. If this is ignored then every area, both city and region, will become a big threat to everyone's health risks.

From this, as a solution to the problem, Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) lecturers carried out community empowerment activities to process trash/fruit waste into disinfectants for superior service schemes with funding support from the Indonesian Muslim University Community Service Institute (LPkM). This activity aims to implement clean behavior in the community using cleaners made from natural ingredients without chemical content.

In the presentation, service team member Nurlina Akbar, S.St., M.Kes explained that all cleaning materials contain chemicals that have an effect on human health, especially pregnant women.

Head of the community service team at the Faculty of Public Health, Indonesian Muslim University, Dra. Education without demonstrations has no impact on society.

One of the conveniences of processing fruit waste is that all types of fruit can be used to make ecoenzymes and the location is a fruit producer, where the waste is not used.

This activity was carried out at the Parangbanoa Sub-district Office, Gowa Regency, and was also present by the Head of the Sub-district Head and the Village Secretary as well as staff and the target PKK group totaling 20 people on August 27 2025. The activity was carried out through a participatory approach and received a positive response from the participants.

Activities to maintain health through environmental cleanliness are in line with the Holy Qur'an, Surah Al-Muddathir (74): 4. This verse instructs us to maintain cleanliness and purity. Protecting the environment from rubbish is a form of maintaining cleanliness taught in the Koran
